Scottish Landfill Ban by 2021

The Scottish Government is looking to implement a ban on Landfill by 2021. It is said to currently be working with Local Authorities around the country to implement suitable waste solutions however there are concerns that not enough has been done ahead of this impending ban.

Research carried out has highlighted that some Local Authorities have failed to put in place suitable arrangements for the changes and are completely unprepared for what is to come. It is thought that a significant volume of the waste will be sent to UK Landfills in the North of England.

The government state that they are working with those concerned to ensure that they can comply with the ban.
